Welcome to Cascade Heights. It is my honor and privilege to serve your family this year.  I am a native Oregonian, raised on the University of Oregon campus.  Unlike some school founders and administrators, I took a rather circuitous route to Cascade Heights.  Following my graduation in Developmental Psychology from the College of Charleston South Carolina, I entered law school, planning to practice real estate and probate law in South Carolina.  A turn of events found me back in Oregon working for U.S. Bank, getting married and for the next 25 years, raising our four children.  Kiri, our oldest is 27, graduated from USC and  works for Oregon Emergency Management. She lives in Salem with her family.  Carmen is 27, a graduate of OSU and goes by the name of Dr. Denman at the London Hospital for Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  Our son Raphael serves the U.S. Army and lives with his family outside of Ft. Lewis, WA..   And Mariah is a  Senior at Central Catholic, fluent in French and Spanish, and head of the Consstitutional Debate team. I am currently and slowly working on my PhD in Educational Administration at Portland State with lots of on the job training. I should finish about the time of my retirement!

In the early 90s we became very involved in education reform in Oregon and finally in 1999 the charter school bill was signed into law.   I was active in the design of one of our state's first charter schools.  In 2001, I became a cancer patient and three years after that began the journey to the founding of Cascade Heights.   Some of our founding families are still with us today; Lee Hansen, Gina Hansen, Shonna Schroedl, Sheila Greer and I spent many, many hours around a kitchen table and at Shari's restaurant talking about our school.   We changed the name four times, received our grant money from the state of Oregon, then our charter from North Clackamas School District.  That first year we were required to sign a lease for property by July 15th, 2006.  We finally signed our lease on July 14th at our first location 13515 SE Rusk Rd. in Milwaukie.  in 2011 we moved to our current school on 92nd Ave.

I cannot think of anything I would rather be doing at this point in my life and I look forward to a wonderful year.   Thank you, thank you, ever thanks to all the wonderful people who make up our community!
